Hurleys Solicitors have a long history of representing those facing criminal investigation or court proceedings.  Our lawyers have many years of experience of assisting people at all stages of the criminal justice system.  It goes without saying that facing a criminal investigation or prosecution is a hugely stressful and worrying time and our dedicated lawyers will defend such individuals with vigour and empathy whilst dealing in an uncompromising manner with the police and prosecuting agencies.

It is always preferable to begin dealing with a matter at the earliest stage and our team welcome the opportunity to represent individuals at the very start of an investigation, usually at a police interview following arrest or by voluntary appointment.  Our lawyers have represented individuals during police interview for all manner of criminal offences and are on hand around the clock to assist.  We are also able to attend interviews relating to allegations of benefit fraud on a privately funded basis.

We have a dedicated Magistrates Court team comprised of lawyers who have been regularly appearing before Magistrates Courts for over 20 years.  We deal with cases throughout the entirety of the proceedings, advising initially on the legal position, strength of the evidence and plea before continuing to steadfastly fight the case at trial and mitigate comprehensively where required.  

Our lawyers are also fully trained and able to represent those who appear before the Youth Court.  It is always important to deal with young people who are facing criminal proceedings sensitively and with patience and we have extensive experience in doing so successfully.

Our Crown Court team specialise in dealing with the more serious offences which are sent to that court for trial or sentence.  We will always defend such matters rigorously by fully reviewing the prosecution evidence and taking all necessary steps to ensure the defence case is properly put before the jury.  We have close relationships with barristers from chambers both locally and across the country and will only instruct barristers who we know will prepare cases with diligence and are expert advocates.  We also have an extensive network of expert witnesses on whom we are able to rely where appropriate.
