David Hurley

David Hurley

David Hurley was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors on 16 November 1981 and has been in continuous practice for over four decades. Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience across a range of legal fields, including representing children and parents in care proceedings, acting for guardians as a member of the Guardians Panel of Solicitors, and undertaking matrimonial and divorce work.

Over the years, David’s enduring area of specialisation has been criminal law, which now forms the full focus of his practice. He represents clients at police stations and in the Magistrates’ Courts, handling cases that range from allegations of domestic abuse through to the most serious offences, including murder.

David is a long-standing member of the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme, holding the qualifications and experience required to represent clients under the Duty Solicitor Scheme, both at police stations on a 24-hour basis and in the Magistrates’ Courts, including Saturdays and bank holidays. He has been a member of the Duty Solicitor Scheme since its inception and previously served as Chairman of the local Duty Solicitor Committee, overseeing the appointment and admission of solicitors to the scheme before that role was transferred to the Legal Aid Agency.

In addition to his extensive criminal defence work, David has successfully managed his own practice since 1990. Initially founded as David Hurley Associates, the firm evolved into Hurleys Solicitors Limited, operating from its offices in Boscombe East, Bournemouth. Under David’s direction, the firm has grown from a non-contentious practice into one specialising exclusively in criminal defence, with additional expertise in personal injury defence work for a major client.

As the sole director of Hurleys Solicitors Limited, David is responsible for the firm’s day-to-day management and strategic direction, continuing to guide its work through the demanding and ever-changing landscape of criminal litigation.
