Paul began practising as a criminal defence solicitor in 2006 in London where he worked until 2018. He moved to Dorset that year where he has practiced since. He qualified initially as a barrister before converting to become a solicitor in order to spend more time in direct access with his clients. He is a skilled advocate and a highly organised and proficient lawyer.
He is regularly found in the Magistrates Court and is hugely experienced in representing individuals before Magistrates Courts across the country. He has successfully defended those facing trial across the spectrum of offences and will always ensure that the prosecution evidence is fully tested whilst also ensuring that defendants have an opportunity to explain their side of the story fully and that any potential witnesses or lines of investigation are properly explored in order to ensure the case is properly contested.
Paul also enjoys the responsibility of putting forward mitigation for defendants who have admitted or been convicted of criminal offences in order that the court has a fair and balanced perspective of the case when considering sentence. He is able to represent individuals on a legally aided basis, in his capacity as court duty solicitor or also through private funding. He has vast experience in dealing with those charged with driving offences and will do everything possible to persuade the court not to disqualify defendants from driving where possible.
Paul frequently attends police stations in order to represent those who have been arrested throughout their time in custody, dealing with those individuals with patience and respect whilst ensuring that the police conduct their investigation impartially and objectively.
Paul is also very experienced at dealing with those charged with more serious offences which are heard at the Crown Court. He has specialised in defending those charged with serious sexual offences over the years and has achieved considerable success in this field which has led to a number of online recommendations from which people continue to seek him out to deal with their case. In other areas, he has represented those charged with the most serious of offences including murder, armed robbery, terrorism offences, drugs importation and complex fraud matters.
